What’s Inside: Looking for a coffee alternative? Refresh your morning (or afternoon) routine with this Lavender London Fog Latte! You can use Earl Grey or Black Tea. It’s completely dairy-free and AIP-friendly.
I’ve got your new favorite drink and it’s been my OBSESSION ever since trying a Lavender London Fog latte for the very first time over a year ago at a fabulous cafe in LA. I was so obsessed, I teamed up with a local NYC cafe called Blank Slate Tea a couple of years ago to create a HOT version a few years ago… and now that it’s gorgeous out, here I am making it iced at home!
What the heck is a London Fog latte you might be wondering? Well! It consists of milk and earl grey or black tea… this baby is a LAVENDER variation which is just divine. I’ve heard there is a London Fog Starbucks version with lavender but let’s skip the sugar and any other unknown ingredients because it’s SO easy to make at home, promise. I can’t wait for you to try this very popular and reader-fave tea latte recipe that will have you swooning with delight.

Great news! Yes, black tea is AIP-compliant even with caffeine. But the key is to enjoy it in moderation and know thyself when it comes to caffeine. I tend to use decaf organic black or Earl grey tea myself. For this latte recipe to be fully AIP-compliant, be sure to use coconut or tigernut milk.
As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I love both consuming and recommending Black tea for its many health benefits. It’s a great option if you are looking for a non-sweetened drink with less caffeine than coffee or energy drinks.
It has a strong flavor and contains plenty of antioxidants, and studies have shown it can improve cholesterol, support gut health, and decrease blood pressure.
New to using lavender outside of a floral arrangement? Welcome. This is partly why I call this the life-changing Iced Lavender London Fog Latte. Because the lavender will rock your world!
Firstly, yes, you need to buy culinary lavender… it’s ok, do it. You’ll USE it, trust me, even if just for an addition to hot or iced teas like this one. And before you know it, you’ll be that person making Lavender lattes for everyone who comes to visit you!
Making lavender tea at home is so comforting, that’s the best way to describe the taste… like a cozy hug. In this iced recipe, we’ll use a homemade lavender concentrate you can make and store which I find to be much more potent, delish, and readily available for the iced version. But if you’re strapped for time (or patience) and can’t wait 1-hr for it to steep, you can simply steep 1-2 tsp. of the culinary lavender with the black tea in hot (not boiling) water.
“Okay, Alison, I’ll go all in and make the lavender concentrate… but what’s the deal with using it?”
Wise choice! 😂Use the lavender concentrate in lemonades, other iced teas, in coffee, or matcha… or just sip it heated at night for a nice relaxing treat. There are so many options. I’ve also mixed it with red raspberry leaf tea during the late stages of my pregnancy and hibiscus, it adds a great little extra something. Get as creative as you’d like! You can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for approximately 2 weeks.
You can use black tea or Earl Grey. I love using black tea to let the lavender shine even more, but the Earl Grey is also super delish and the lavender compliments it nicely.
I love using my homemade almond/coconut milk which is basically your average almond milk recipe but using half coconut water and water (ratio/recipe here) but you can use any unsweetened non-dairy milk you love. It won’t make or break this because the lavender is really the star. For AIP, use additive-free coconut or tigernut milk.
There’s maple syrup in here, people! Just a TOUCH to really enhance that lavender. You can totally skip it or use raw honey or another preferred sweetener. Maple is my favorite though.
Want to make a HOT Lavender London Fog? You can simply steep 1-2 tsp. of the culinary lavender with the tea in hot (not boiling) water.

I would love to use the lavender in my yard for my drinks too. Do you know if they need to be washed before using them in drinks or baking?
I’d assume but also dried since we are making it out of dried lavender like a “tea”.
So refreshing and perfect for summer! Also, where did you get the glasses for the drinks?
they’re Weck jars!
Oh wow! Such a gorgeous iced latte! I absolutely love the combination of lavender and Earl grey tea. So comforting.
This latte was so delicious. I cannot wait to try it again.
What a great recipe! The combination of flavors is divine, and I’ve had a London Fog at a cafe but never made my own. Thank you for another winner from Food By Mars!

Delicious and best drink for the Summers. Love your presentation
How about Jarred, dried lavender?
That should work! As long as it’s culinary lavender, that’s what I used.
Can fresh lavender flowers be used to make the concentrate? How much would one need?
I’m not sure! I’ve only used the culinary lavender.
Omg this was so yummy! Was trying to use up some lavender I had and was so surprised at how amazing the concentrate turned out. May be my new morning go-to!
I’M Stoked you like it – yay!
Thanks for sharing! Does it keep long?
The lavender concentrate? I’d say about 8-10 days! You’ll want to pour it in everything 🙂
This looks so good! Is it good hot too?
YES! And sometimes I just let a pinch of lavender steep with the black tea and drink it hot.
Have you ever tried using Lavender essential oil instead of the concentrate? I think I am going to experiment with my EO’s. This drink looks so delish!
I haven’t but a friend did and she said it was great!
Hi! Apologies if this is somewhere else on your site, but how long does the lavender concentrate last in the refrigerator? I may make a smaller batch depending on its shelf life 🙂
oh good question, I store it for around 7-10 days usually and it’s great! I tend to pour it in everything 😉
This looks so delicious and refreshing, thank you for sharing! Quick question: where did you get your glasses!? Thank you!
On Amazon, they’re called Weck jars! 🙂
