I’ve got your new summer drink and it’s been my OBSESSION ever since trying a Lavender London Fog latte for the very first time over a year ago at a fabulous cafe in LA. I was so obsessed, I teamed up with Blank Slate Tea here in NYC to create a HOT version this past winter… and now that it’s gorgeous out, here I am making it iced at home! What the heck is a London Fog latte you might be wondering? Well! It consists of milk and earl grey or black tea… this baby is a LAVENDER variation which is just divine. I’ve heard there is a London Fog Starbucks version with lavender but let’s skip the sugar and any other unknown ingredients because it’s SO easy to make at home, promise. Can’t wait for you to try this brand new tea latte recipe that will have you swooning all summer long!
Firstly, yes, you need to buy culinary lavender… it’s ok, do it. You’ll USE it, trust me – You’ll be that person making Lavender lattes all summer long! Making lavender tea at home is so comforting. What I do here, is use a lavender CONCENTRATE you can make and store which I find to be much more potent, delish and readily available for the iced version. You can use black tea or Earl Grey. I love using black tea to let the lavender shine EVEN MORE, but the Earl Grey will also be super delish with the concentrate and compliment it nicely. Whereas, the hot lavender tea is just not strong enough to be tasted in the drink in my opinion. Use this concentrate in lemonades, other iced teas, in coffee or matcha… sip it heated at night for a nice relaxing treat. So many options. I’ve also been mixing it with red raspberry leaf tea and hibiscus and it adds a great little extra something. Get as creative as you’d like!
I love using my homemade almond/coconut milk which is basically your average almond milk recipe but using half coconut water and water (ratio/recipe here) but you can use any non-dairy milk you love. It won’t make or break this because that lavender is really the key. Fresh coconut or almond would probably be the tastiest or mix them up!
Also… there’s maple syrup in here, people! Just a TOUCH to really enhance that lavender. You can totally skip it or use raw honey or another preferred sweetener. Maple is my favorite though.
Iced Lavender London Fog Latte Recipe
Super refreshing, comforting and energizing - this Iced Lavender London Fog Latte Recipe will be your new favorite!
(Paleo, Dairy-free, Vegan)
- 1 cup hot water
- 2 black tea or Earl grey tea bags
- 1/2 Tbsp maple syrup or sweetener of choice (this helps to enhance lavender, you can skip if needed)
- 2/3 cup lavender concentrate (recipe below, or lavender tea)
- 2/3 cup dairy-free mylk of choice (unsweetened almond or coconut tastes the best)
Let black or Earl grey tea steep for 5 mins in hot water and mix in sweetener to dissolve.
Add ice to a 2 large glasses, and add 1/3 cup mylk and lavender concentrate over top in each glass.
Pour 1/3 cup tea over top in each glass and with remaining tea, reserve in case you'd like it stronger or use it for another serving later!
Serve immediately and enjoy.
Lavender Concentrate Recipe
Use this lavender concentrate in tea, lemonade, baked goods and anything else you love! It's got an amazing taste you have to try.
- 4 cups cold water
- 1/4 cup culinary lavender petals
Add lavender to a large mason jar (1-1.5 quarts)
Over top, pour cold water, mix and cover.
Let sit at room temp. for 1 hour to infuse.
Strain the concentrate and store in a closed container in the fridge, use as desired!
