It’s crunch time for gift giving… my inbox is pretty jam-packed with “last day to get shipped by Christmas” warnings. Well if I haven’t bought it yet, it’s not getting bought, guys!! What I’m doing this week is getting my edible gifts ready for my dear friends and family. I’m sharing a super EASY and FLEXIBLE roasted nuts recipe you can get creative with as well as some gorgeous edible gifts and printable I’ve seen recently from my darling fellow bloggers who have made some creative things. So join me this weekend by getting all Martha Stewart-y on your pending gift list and get in the kitchen, get your scissors out… and that random leftover ribbon you found in your storage. Because it’s going to get beautifully messy in your kitchen 🙂 Homemade gifts are so much fun to make and give – I’m pretty stoked about it.
Now, depending on what you have on hand, there may be a few things you have to purchase… if you can Amazon prime it, you’re golden…. if not, head to a local craft store. Below is a pretty generic list that should serve you well.
- baking sheet
- parchment paper or tin foil
- ribbon, baker’s twine, etc.
- mason jars, clear plastic bags, brown paper bags, or cartons
- printable gift tags or hand-written
- optional: dried flowers or herbs (I used dried chamomile flowers)
That’s IT! On to ingredients for my Maple Roasted Nuts…
makes just over 2 cups, serving size is 2 tbsp.
- 1 cup raw almonds
- 1/2 cup walnuts
- 1/3 cup shelled pumpkin seeds
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 2 tsp coconut oil (melted)
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp cardamom
- 1/8 tsp salt
- Pre-heat oven to 350f degrees.
- Mix nuts and seeds in a bowl together and pour the syrup and melted coconut oil over top, mix to coat with a large wooden spoon.
- Then add the seasonings over top, continue mixing to coat. You can optionally add the nuts to a large plastic freezer bag and add seasonings in there to shake and bake!
- Spread out the nut mixture on the lined baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes, remove pan from oven and stir the nuts with the wooden spoon once more, but reduce the heat to 300f degrees and continue baking for another 10 minutes.
- Remove nuts and cool for 10 minutes before scooping into your container of choice or serving.
