Why eat seasonal food? There are many reasons! But to name a few of the best: better taste, more nutrients, variety, more cost-effective. On top of that, try eating local and organic produce when you can (keep this list on you while shopping: dirty dozen). Reasons for that include: more nutritional value (the longer something is sitting on a truck… the less fresh and nutritional it will be), the limitation of GMOs and pesticides you’re ingesting as well as reducing your carbon footprint… not to mention, in doing so, you are hopefully supporting local farms! I also believe that certain seasonal produce is not just in season due to the weather conditions… but because that’s what our bodies need most at that time. Antioxidants are a huge help against sun damage on the skin in the summer – HELLO, BERRIES? It’s confirmed… let food be thy medicine, or something smart Hippocrates once said 🙂
